The Valley of Flowers is one of the most famous Himalayan treks in India, located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand inside the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). At an altitude of about 12,000 ft (3,658 m), the valley is renowned for its breathtaking alpine meadows covered with a colorful carpet of wildflowers during the monsoon season, Discovered by the British mountaineer Frank Smythe in 1931, the valley is home to over 500 species of flowers, including rare ones like the Brahmakamal, Blue Poppy, and Cobra Lily. Locals believe it to be the land of fairies, and its mythological charm adds to the allure.
